Elder Abuse Prevention Initiative underway in Berrien County

Area Agency on Aging is pleased to announce publication of the Berrien County Vulnerable Adult Protocol for professionals.  The booklet describes how to report suspected abuse, and it also includes a glossary and phone listing.  The booklet was published by Citizens for Better Care (now Adult Well-Being Services) under contract with Area Agency on Aging, with input from TRIAD, the Berrien County Sheriff's Department and the Prosector's Office.  Copies are available by calling 269-982-7757, or click here.

A companion brochure to the protocol booklet for professionals is a brochure for the general public that describes the types of abuse and how to get help, including a listing of phone numbers.  Click hereto read the brochure; call 269-982-7757 to receive copies.

What people are saying about us: Agency on Aging was a tremendous help

As seen in the: masthead-logo.gif

Dear Editor,

Recently a family member was diagnosed with dementia. Not knowing where to turn or what to do, someone told me about the Area Agency On Aging.

They sent out a book to read that is very helpful on what to expect and things to do and not to do. They then were kind enough to get us in touch with a place to help dispense medicine to make it a little easier. We then needed to get her assessed as to whether she was able to stay where she was or needed assisted living. Again, they came through for us.

I don't know how many people know about this place, but I am telling you, if you need any kind of assistance or just want to ask questions, they will do their best to help get you to the right place.

We are very thankful they are around and can't thank them enough.
